Who we are

National entity

We are the national entity for Māori Wardens in New Zealand. Our full name is Ngā Wātene Māori o Aotearoa.

Charitable Trust

We are a charitable trust. We have a Board of Trustees that includes one representative from each of the regions. Our current trustees are: Taka Hei (Te Taitokerau, Tāmaki and Tāmaki ki te Tonga), Leitia Preston (Waikato, Hauraki and Maniapoto), Carol Te Huna (Waiāriki, Tauranga Moana, Mataatua, Aotea and Taranaki), Owen Lloyd (Tairāwhiti), Jordan Winiata (Tākitimu, Raukawa, Te Whanganui-a-Tara), Linda Ngata (Te Tau Ihu, Te Waipounamu and Wharekauri/Rēkohu).

Our principal role is to support and serve Māori Wardens’ Regions. See the Regions page here.

Our chairperson is Linda Ngata; our secretary is Jordan Winiata; our treasurer is Carol Te Huna.

Vision

Our vision is that Māori Wardens in Aotearoa are united, valued and well-supported.

We support and service our regional entities to provide support to our communities at all levels.
