Becoming a Māori Warden


You become a Māori Warden when you are appointed by the Minister for Māori Development and granted a warrant. The District Māori Council is responsible for nominating Māori Wardens and your region will submit the applications to the Ministry of Māori Development | Te Puni Kōkiri. Once a Māori Warden is appointed, the Ministry of Māori Development can make reappointments.
