Māori Wardens at Waitangi

 |  Maori Wardens

Māori Wardens came from all over the country to help out at Waitangi. This year saw record attendances with thousands of people. Māori Wardens could be seen on the frontline helping to keep the peace with their friendly, helpful vibe.

Māori Wardens were at Waitangi on a  voluntary basis.

Māori Wardens were up early in the morning and often worked late into the night to make sure everyone stayed safe at Waitangi.  As well as having a frontline role at the marae, they do lots of unseen tasks.  They give first aid, help with the traffic flow during a very busy event.  Most of all, they spread “aroha ki te tangata” – their love for the people.
