Ratana celebrations 2025

Māori Wardens worked with Katipā and NZ Police to manage crowds, traffic and public safety at Rātana celebrations.

The week-long celebrations included pōwhiri for three days leading up to the birthday celebration of Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana on 25th January.

Huge numbers turned out for the pōwhiri for the Māori Queen Ngawai Hono i te Po Paki on Thursday 22nd January. And the celebrations on the 25th January were spectacular with the many Rātana bands from around the country.
